Just got back in from our "A" team away match at Y Ffor, and for the second week running we have come away with a 10 - 0 victory, well done team.

More good news for Waunfawr S.M.B.C. Emyr, Cai and I went to Camarthen for the Welsh A Team selection. I'm very happy to report that we were all selected to play in the British Isles match being held in Dumfries in March next year.

Well we're three games into the season and as this goes to press our "A" team have won two and lost one - but the good news is that we are currently top of the standings, with our "B" team lower down the league but there are lot more games to play.

This season has seen my son Lewis play in the league, and he came away with a victory when paired with me in the doubles when we played Y Ffor a week ago.

   

Welcome to the new season of Bowls in Waunfawr. this update is a little late as my computer has been playing up.

News so far is we had a mixed doubles competition in Llanfairfechan last Sunday where members from clubs in Gwynedd had their names pulled from the hat to be paired together. We then all played four games to determine the winning duo. We had a great day as the pictures show with the eventual winners being Yvonne from Y Ffor Club and myself.

This years Charity Event held at Llanfairfechan on 16th April and was in aid of SSAFA, we had agreat day and raised over £500

On Thursday 29th March 2012 we invited our local youth club to an introduction of Short Mat Bowls, it is our hope of course that we might get some of them interested in our game and maybe get a youth team together.

The evening went very well, with all those who attended presented with a certificate by Cai Pritchard, who was until recently a member of the Youth Club of Waunfawr.

We did it ! we've won the Gwynedd League 2011/12.

It was the last game of the season and we had to play Llanerchymedd who were currently top. It was simple maths we had to win 8 - 2 to take the title, and guess what we did.

This year we were representing Waunfawr at the Welsh competitions. In the Singles was Mal, Triples was Emyr, Cai and Mal, with the fours being Emyr, Brian, Cai and Mal. In each discipline we all lost just one game so we did not go through to the next round, so bring on next year.

This week it was the A Team v the B Team, With the A Team being the victors by 9 points to 1.
This kind of flatters our score (A team) as all games were contested well right till the last end.

Well we had a good day today, we sent 2 teams to play in the Triples they were Wenna, Tess and Brian, and Cai, Emyr and myself. There were 8 teams in total so we all had one game against each other, playing 7 ends.

The good news was that Cai, Emyr and myself came second, with the winners being Will, Dayfdd and Dennis from Llanerchymedd, well done guys.

Away at Cybi Jan 2012

Who ever said bowls was a funny old game was so right , we lost 10 - 0 last week, but we bounced back with an away 9 - 1 win this week. Idris had a comfortable win, with Emyr getting 3 on his last end to win by 1 point. Cai and his Taid drew in their doubles, whilst Joe and myself took a 1 point victory in our doubles.

I'm now looking forward to the Gwynedd Triples this weekend, being held at Llanfairfechan.

Well after a good win away last week, we've come back down to earth with a 10 - 0 defeat away at Chwilog. All games were contested well with some very close scores, but local knowledge of their mats and great bowling skills proved too much for our brave team, there's always next time.

We had a hard fought 6 - 4 away win at Y Ffor club this week, with Joe and myself winning our doubles and Idris and Leufuer playing some excellent ends but not coming away as victors.
In the singles Emyr was down by 1 point on the last end but was unable to get the 2 points he needed due to a great effort by Maira from Y Ffor. Cai, and John from Y Ffor were tied going into the last end, but Cai came away the victor to give us our win. With the cumulative points in our favour we went home happy, being currently second in the League just behind Llanerchymedd.
